Slimed…Mary-Kate and AshleyThe green slime oozed and children screamed with delight at the 17th annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday. Entertainment entrepreneurs Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson got ‘slimed’ at the event, as did co-host Mike Myers, who, along with Cameron Diaz hosted the show. The two last teamed up for the roles of ogre and princess in the hit animated feature Shrek. The awards, in which kids vote for their favourite actors, musicians and sports heroes, has become one of Hollywood’s most star-studded events. This year’s show included actor Adam Sandler, who received the ‘Wannabe Award,’ presented to the celebrity kids most want to be like. Impressively, Hugh Jackman who won over children with his portrayal of Wolverine in the X-Men movies, won the show’s celebrity burping contest. Well, he is an Aussie, after all!

Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, has entertained us, transforming hapless American men from drab to fab. And now, the Fab Five have their sights set on a new target. You! A new spin off show is in the pipeline, with a new bunch of fab, camp style-aficionados advising heterosexual women on fashion, grooming and interior design. That’s right, Queer Eye for the Straight Girl is due to commence tjuzing in the US in 2005. A spokeswoman for the show’s creators, Bravo, said the new show was still being developed and it was not known how many gay men would make up this new crack force. The original Queer Eye team, have become stars in their own right, starring in advertising campaigns and signing book deals. Nice work, if you can get it!

Billy Bob Thornton is gonna be a daddy…again. The thesp, who currently stars as US pioneer, Davy Crockett in the forthcoming flick, The Alamo, is expecting a baby with Connie Angland. The bub is due in October, Thornton publicist Arnold Robinson confirmed, though he declined to offer more details about the couple’s relationship. Thornton, 48, is very adept at fatherhood by now, having fathered three children from two previous marriages. He’s also an old hand at marriage, clocking up five weddings! No wonder he’s keeping mum about his intentions with Connie!

Billy Bob’s parenting skills, however, did not extend to Maddox, the Cambodian baby he and former missus Angelina Jolie adopted two years ago. Eleven days after the boy arrived in their new home, in June 2002, Thornton allegedly moved out. The Tomb Raider babe went on to say the spilt was a result of the pair having very different priorities. Thornton and Jolie subsequently severed their three-year union when they divorced in May 2003 and, rumour has it, they are no longer friends.
